Lost, Found, and Totally Hooked: My Take on Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Michelle here, and yes, I’m still firmly entrenched in the emotional rollercoaster that is the Colleen Hoover universe.

After the beautiful, complicated journey of Lake and Will, I decided to dive into something new, but still within the CoHo realm: *Hopeless*. And let me tell you, this one… well, it left me feeling a lot of things, but definitely not hopeless!

Lost, Found, and Totally Hooked: My Take on Hopeless by Colleen Hoover ✨

You know how it is – you finish one amazing series, and you're left with that "what do I read now?" feeling. Well, thanks to the endless scroll on my Kindle app, I landed on *Hopeless*. My husband just shakes his head now when he sees me glued to the iPad, but hey, a girl needs her literary escape from HR policies and teenage angst!

A Dive into the Deep End… 🌊

"Hopeless" introduces us to Sky, a homeschooled senior who suddenly finds herself enrolled in public school and quickly drawn to Dean Holder. But this isn't your typical high school romance. Oh no.

This book is a mystery wrapped in a love story, wrapped in a whole lot of unspoken truths. As Sky and Holder get closer, secrets from their past begin to surface, and let me tell you, some of them are heavy.

Why This One Left Me Anything But Hopeless (But Definitely Speechless!) 🤯

This book is a departure from the *Slammed* series in its structure, almost like a psychological thriller blended with new adult romance. The way Colleen Hoover slowly unravels the mysteries felt incredibly compelling.

It reminded me of those intense, twisty psychological dramas you get utterly absorbed in, like when you’re watching *Gone Girl* and every new revelation leaves your jaw on the floor. I literally found myself gasping out loud at some points, which probably earned me some strange looks from the golden doodles.

The emotional depth is still very much there, but it's intertwined with a sense of suspense that keeps you turning pages at lightning speed. It explores themes of trauma, memory, and healing in a way that felt incredibly impactful.

It's a testament to CoHo's writing that she can tackle such difficult subjects with sensitivity and still craft a captivating love story. This book had me thinking about it long after I finished, which is always the mark of a truly great read.

Your Next Must-Read Escape Awaits! 💖📚

So, if you’re ready for a book that will pull you in with a powerful romance but keep you guessing with a compelling mystery, Hopeless is your next read. It's a raw, honest, and ultimately hopeful story that will stick with you.

Go ahead, hit that "buy now" button on your Kindle. Trust me, it’s the perfect treat for your soul and a much-needed break from whatever real-life chaos you're navigating. Happy reading friends!

Michelle

Book Review: Lights Out: An Into Darkness Novel by Navessa Allen

Book Review:  Lights Out: An Into Darkness Novel by Navessa Allen Or: How to Accidentally Get Emotionally Attached to a Hot Mess in a Dystopian Wasteland Let me start by saying I picked this book up because the cover screamed “moody post-apocalyptic romance” and I was emotionally in the mood to watch the world burn — just not literally (looking at you, 2020). Also, my husband was watching a documentary about concrete. Again. So I needed an escape. Enter Lights Out — Navessa Allen drops us into a world so bleak it makes my toddler’s tantrum in Target last week look like a Disney short. The government’s gone, the electricity’s gone, and surprise!  So has any illusion that humans will behave decently without air conditioning. Our heroine, who I’ll refer to as Sass Apocalypse Barbie, is a badass survivor with a moral compass that sometimes points north-ish… but only if there’s whiskey. Plot-wise , it’s part survival horror, part slow-burn romance, and part “holy crap, did t...

Understanding Teenagers: A Parent's Guide

Understanding Teenagers: A Parent's Guide  Hi everyone! As a parent, I know firsthand how bewildering the teenage years can be. It’s like you’re suddenly dealing with a whole new species, and the rule book seems to have gone out the window. If you’ve ever felt that way, you’re going to want to hear about this book I’ve just finished reading: "Teenagers: The Evidence-Base" by Matilda Gosling. Right off the bat, let me tell you – this isn't your typical parenting guide. It’s not filled with outdated platitudes or guilt-tripping advice. Instead, Gosling takes a refreshing, evidence-based approach, weaving together research from adolescent psychology, biology, neuroscience, and family systems to give you a clear understanding of what's really going on in those teenage minds. It’s about replacing the myths about teenagers with actual data.   What makes this book so good? It’s like having a cheat sheet for adolescence: The book is designed to be a practical tool...
